Hakuhodo and Shopperception to closely collaborate in Asia
Hakuhodo enters into license agreement with Shopperception Inc. owner of technology patent on capturing shopper’s behavior in front of a shelf.
Hakuhodo will exclusively offer in-store shopper behavior research as the second service of our Shopper Cascade™Model, Hakuhodo’s unique marketing model.
Hakuhodo Inc. would like to announce entering into an exclusive license agreement with Shopperception Inc., a US company, who owns patent pending technology for using 3D sensors to capture Shopper’s behavior in the store. The agreement covers both Japan and the Asian market.
Hakuhodo will exclusively offer in-store shopper behavior research based on this technology as the 2nd service of our Shopper Cascade™Model: Hakuhodo’s unique marketing model, which derives action plans to expand client’s sales through analysis of integrated data of Shopper’s actual purchase behavior and other big data.

The proliferation of smartphones and evolution of positional measurement technology recently has made capturing shopper various in-store actions possible. Following this, various solutions have been released from both Japan and abroad. On the other hand, effective application of these data to marketing remains a challenge.
Shopperception owns a technology that captures not only the number of people who visit the category, but also captures when they stop to look at product, for how long, each interaction of every shopper with a product, and all conversions, and turns it into actual data without identifying individuals. By using interaction data with each product, it assesses overall performance of both category and shelf, planogram and assortment, making further assessment of marketing actions for an individual product possible.
Hakuhodo offers research services for capturing shopper behavior in front of a shelf with this technology as the 2nd service of Shopper Cascade™Model. This service offered by Hakuhodo integrates data captured by Shopperception’s technology with other big data, and provides analysis to establish action plans to improve categories and stores. The synergy of both companies enables us to develop actions to maximize the benefit of Shopper, Manufacturer, and Retailer. Shopper Cascade™Model offers “Visualization of unconscious behavior” and “Capture of behavior with actual data”, and this service enables the latter.
For example, this service reveals each product’s competitive power in the shelf, capturing product selection sequences and conversion funnels, and contributes to the development of profitable planograms based on product interaction.
Also, as part of this agreement, and using Shopperception’s patent pending technology, Hakuhodo will cooperate with Shopperception to develop an in-store information delivery system based on product interactions, delivering information to in-store signage or shopper’s personal device, based on real-time product interaction, purchase history, and online browsing history.
